On Fire (2022)
This neon takes the traditional "On Air" sign and alters one element (both literally and metaphorically), shifting air into fire. The constant, red glow of the sign represents the dual nature of fire: a comforting warmth and a destructive element that is dangerous if not contained. While the red neon is safely trapped within the tube, it begs the question: What is on fire? A traditional "On Air" sign calls for silence and attentiveness. What does an "On Fire" one ask for? Is there something (or someone) on fire that demands our attention? The fact that the sign remains constantly illuminated suggests something is always on fire, uncontained and dangerous. Is it you? Is it me? Maybe we're all on fire, and just watching each other burn.
